Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Cavalry Skirmishes by Jan Asselijn was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,748.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Asselijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Breach Of The Sint Anthonisdijk On The Night Of 5–6 March 1651 in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 602,500.00 (€ 775,617.30).
