The work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter length, in a black slashed silk dress with lace collar and cuffs, a fan in her right hand by Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn was sold in the Old Master & British Pictures auction at Christies in London in July 2008. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 26,998.36), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black coat and lace collar; and Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black dress with gold trim and a lace collar and headdress in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 712,000.00 (€ 521,229.87).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Anthonisz. van Ravesteyn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black coat and lace collar; and Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black dress with gold trim and a lace collar and headdress im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 712.000,00 (€ 521.229,87).
