Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Landscapes From An Autograph Book; Morrice By G. Blair Laing, A Limited Edition Book, 8/42, With An Original Drawing By Morrice, A Figure, Venice by James Wilson Morrice was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CAD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CAD 9,000.00 (€ 6,462.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Wilson Morrice achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening Stroll, Venice in November 2011 with an auction result of CAD 1,497,500.00 (€ 1,091,317.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two Landscapes From An Autograph Book; Morrice By G. Blair Laing, A Limited Edition Book, 8/42, With An Original Drawing By Morrice, A Figure, Venice von James Wilson Morrice im Mai 2011 bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CAD 9.000,00 (€ 6.462,02) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Wilson Morrice erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Evening Stroll, Venice im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CAD 1.497.500,00 (€ 1.091.317,18).
