Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations, which included the work A view of Rotterdam with the Laurens church in the background by James Thomas Watts. The price achieved of GBP 940.00 (€ 1,453.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by James Thomas Watts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A wooded landscape in winter in March 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,067.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit A view of Rotterdam with the Laurens church in the background von James Thomas Watts zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 940,00 (€ 1.453,97) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Thomas Watts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A wooded landscape in winter im März 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.935,00 (€ 8.067,43).
