Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sheep grazing before Snowdon by James Peel was sold in the Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2010. The price achieved of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 14,190.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Peel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View near Walton on the Ribble, Lancashire, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,422.70).
