In the British Pictures 1500-1850 auction, the work Portrait of Richard Baylay of Stoke Damerall Near Plymouth, Half-Length, In A Brown Coat And White Stock And Vest, Feigned Oval sold for GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,892.38) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Northcote have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Admiral William Waldegrave, 1St Baron Radstock (1753-1825) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 64,551.93).
