Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Tombs of the Scaligers, Verona by James Holland was auctioned at Bonhams in London in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,062.50 (€ 5,621.47). Admittedly, works by James Holland have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Colleoni Monument, Venice in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 51,518.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Tombs of the Scaligers, Verona von James Holland im Oktober 2020 bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.062,50 (€ 5.621,47) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Holland auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Colleoni Monument, Venice im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.850,00 (€ 51.518,40).
