Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work British portrait Of The Langford Family In Their Drawing Room by James Holland was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,630.17). Admittedly, works by James Holland have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Colleoni Monument, Venice in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 51,518.40).
