Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2000 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work The Bride and Bridesmaids by James Fitton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 881.25 (€ 1,508.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James Fitton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work London Market in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,481.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Bride and Bridesmaids von James Fitton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 881,25 (€ 1.508,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Fitton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit London Market im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.625,00 (€ 12.481,64).
