Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Storm, Lake Simcoe by James Edward Hervey MacDonald was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of CAD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of CAD 83,000.00 (€ 62,014.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James Edward Hervey MacDonald have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Wind Clouds in November 2010 with an auction result of CAD 589,000.00 (€ 440,078.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Storm, Lake Simcoe von James Edward Hervey MacDonald kam im November 2010 bei Sothebys in Toronto zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von CAD 83.000,00 (€ 62.014,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Edward Hervey MacDonald auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Wind Clouds im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CAD 589.000,00 (€ 440.078,24).
