A top price for James Butler - as previously expected
The work The Bather by James Butler was sold in the 20th Century British Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,751.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Bather is the most expensive artwork by James Butler that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit The Bather von James Butler wurde im November 2007 in der Auktion 20th Century British Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 8.751,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The Bather das teuerste Kunstwerk von James Butler, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
