The work The ermine and the goldcrest by James Butler was worth HKD 40,000.00 (€ 4,306.61) to a buyer in November 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Dear Monsieur Monet at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 8,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Butler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Bather, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,751.62).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Dear Monsieur Monet bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 8.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von James Butler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Bather beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 6.250,00 (€ 8.751,62) versteigert wurde.
