Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Figures on a track before a lake in a mountainous landscape by James Burrell Smith for GBP 446.50 (€ 720.91). This price was achieved in the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Burrell Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).
