Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishing boats in a swell off the coast by James Burrell Smith was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in April this year. The price achieved of GBP 956.25 (€ 1,089.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Burrell Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).
