Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Figures walking on the cliffs above Sandgate, Kent by James Baker Pyne for GBP 360.00 (€ 534.68). This price was achieved in the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Baker Pyne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work VIEW OF THE CUSTOM HOUSE FROM THE THAMES in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 41,825.00 (€ 65,495.79).

Im Juli 2007 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Figures walking on the cliffs above Sandgate, Kent von James Baker Pyne für GBP 360,00 (€ 534,68) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Baker Pyne erzielen.
