Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The coast of St Briac, France by James Baker Pyne was sold in the Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,045.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Baker Pyne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work VIEW OF THE CUSTOM HOUSE FROM THE THAMES in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 41,825.00 (€ 65,495.79).
