Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included this untitled work by Jagdish Swaminathan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,900.00 (€ 69,743.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jagdish Swaminathan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Bird, Tree and Mountain Series) in September last year with an auction result of USD 819,000.00 (€ 837,166.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Jagdish Swaminathan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 69.743,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jagdish Swaminathan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Bird, Tree and Mountain Series) im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 819.000,00 (€ 837.166,51).
