Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny auction, the work The Horse Fair changed hands for USD 2,813.00 (€ 2,155.06) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Military Encampment At The Edge Of A Forest in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,930.36).
