This artwork by Jacob Sibrandi Mancadan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April 2007. In the Important Old Master Paintings Including Property From the Collection of Jacques Goudstikker auction, the work Peasants and goats in a mountainous landscape sold for USD 78,000.00 (€ 57,101.02) - well above the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacob Sibrandi Mancadan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Peasants with livestock by classical ruins in an extensive landscape, with a youth playing a pipe in the foreground sold at auction in April 2007 with the realized price of USD 96,000.00 (€ 70,278.18).
