Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Early British & Irish Paintings, which included the work The Rape Of Deianera; And Rest On The Flight To Egypt by Jacob More. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 32,821.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacob More - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A View Of The Lake Of Nemi, Anciently Called Speculum Dianae, Near Rome, which sold at auction in June 2008 for GBP 63,650.00 (€ 80,455.73).
