In July 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of Jacob Trip (Circa 1576–1661), Aged 74, Half-Length, Wearing A Skullcap And A Flat Collar by Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 27,500.00 (€ 30,833.55), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Vanitas Still Life With An Angel Blowing Bubbles in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 374,500.00 (€ 273,058.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Jacob Trip (Circa 1576–1661), Aged 74, Half-Length, Wearing A Skullcap And A Flat Collar von Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 30.833,55) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Vanitas Still Life With An Angel Blowing Bubbles im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 374.500,00 (€ 273.058,69).
