In May 2004 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, aged 47, bust-length, in black costume with a flat collar of white lace, a black coat and leather gloves by Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 10,157.50 45% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Vanitas Still Life With An Angel Blowing Bubbles in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 374,500.00 (€ 273,058.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 45 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, aged 47, bust-length, in black costume with a flat collar of white lace, a black coat and leather gloves von Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 10.157,50 und damit 45% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Vanitas Still Life With An Angel Blowing Bubbles im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 374.500,00 (€ 273.058,69).
