Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Art, which included the work Portrait of Contessa Ortensia Ianni Stella, bust-length, in an ivory chemise, with flowers in her hair by Jacob Ferdinand Voet. It changed hands for a price of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,759.22) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Ferdinand Voet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Philippe, Duc de Vendôme (1655-1727), Grand Prior of the Knights of Malta in France, bust-length, in a feigned oval in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 99,650.00 (€ 115,593.70).
