Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jacob de Wit could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work A Design For An Overdoor With Two Putti And A Dog: An Allegory Of Hunting changed hands for USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,619.17) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,500.00 – 4,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob de Wit achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An allegory of painting and sculpture; and An allegory of music and dance - en grisaille in July this year with an auction result of GBP 97,020.00 (€ 113,192.93).
In der Auktion Old Master Drawings wechselte die Arbeit A Design For An Overdoor With Two Putti And A Dog: An Allegory Of Hunting für USD 3.000,00 (€ 2.619,17) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.500,00 – 4.500,00.
