Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Half-Length Portrait Of A Young Officer In A Velvet Cloak And Metal Breast-Plate by Jacob Adriaensz. Backer was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,870.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Adriaensz. Backer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a black coat with a white collar and cuffs, wearing a black hat, a glove in his right hand, before a column and a red curtain in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 122,500.00 (€ 173,663.86).
