This artwork by Jack McConville achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2021. In the Contemporary Art | London auction, the work The Unexpected Lesson sold for GBP 1,512.00 (€ 1,776.21) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jack McConville; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Rokeby Candy sold at auction in December 2019 with the realized price of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,068.30).

In der Auktion Contemporary Art | London wurde die Arbeit The Unexpected Lesson für GBP 1.512,00 (€ 1.776,21) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jack McConville; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Rokeby Candy im Dezember 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.068,30).
