Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pulmão 1991 (Lung 1991) by Jac Leirner was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,348.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jac Leirner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nomes (Names) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 177,681.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pulmão 1991 (Lung 1991) von Jac Leirner im Mai 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.348,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jac Leirner erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nomes (Names) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 221.000,00 (€ 177.681,30).
