It achieved a price of GBP 600.00 (€ 870.29), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Admittedly, works by Jef Louis Van Leemputten have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tending the flock in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 4,465.00 (€ 5,077.33).

Die Arbeit Hens and cockerels beside a cottage with sheep beyond von Jef Louis Van Leemputten wurde im Juli 2005 in der Auktion The Sunday Picture Sale - British and Continental oils, bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 600,00 (€ 870,29) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jef Louis Van Leemputten auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Tending the flock im März 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.465,00 (€ 5.077,33).
