In June last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Forest: O Hurry to the Ragged Wood by Ivon Hitchens. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 94,800.00 (€ 110,130.63), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivon Hitchens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Azaleas, which sold at auction in January 2020 for GBP 275,000.00 (€ 327,109.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Forest: O Hurry to the Ragged Wood von Ivon Hitchens zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 94.800,00 (€ 110.130,63) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ivon Hitchens mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life with Azaleas beobachtet, die im Januar 2020 für GBP 275.000,00 (€ 327.109,44) versteigert wurde.
