Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Irma Stern could be acquired at Christies in London in June 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Impressionist/Modern Art Evening Sale auction, the work The Flower Market, Cape Town (recto); Cape coastal landscape with Cape Malays (verso) changed hands for GBP 690,850.00 (€ 855,436.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Other works by Irma Stern have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2021 by the work Lelemana Dance at GBP 1,222,750.00 (€ 1,448,628.51).
