In April 2007 Sothebys in Singapore held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings, which included the work Falcon by Ibrahim Hussein. The »bidding war« ended at SGD 102,000.00 (€ 49,133.24), 28% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ibrahim Hussein - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unknown, which sold at auction in May 2014 for HKD 1,120,000.00 (€ 105,923.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im April 2007 führte Sothebys in Singapur die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Falcon von Ibrahim Hussein zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von SGD 102.000,00 (€ 49.133,24) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ibrahim Hussein mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Unknown beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für HKD 1.120.000,00 (€ 105.923,75) versteigert wurde.
