comprising five photographic prints from the 'Abbey Road' sessions as shot by Iain Macmillan, each showing The Beatles in various formations as they walk across the Abbey Road pedestrian crossing, frames 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 present, (frame no.5 missing - the album cover), mounted, framed and glazed
each print 20 x 25.5cm (8 x 10in); overall in frame 56 x 80cm (22 x 31.5in)
According to the vendor, this is a one-off artwork undertaken to Macmillan's precise instructions. The prints were made from the original colour negatives and were supplied to the vendor by Macmillan in 1983/early 1984. This artwork was subsequently displayed in The Art of The Beatles exhibition held at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, between May-September 1984. The vendor was the originator and co-organiser of the exhibition.

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March this year Bonhams held the auction British. Cool., which included the work A Series Of Five Outtakes From The Beatles' 'Abbey Road' Sessions, 1969, printed later by Iain MacMillan. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,562.50 (€ 10,879.19), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Iain MacMillan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Beatles, Abbey Road, 1969, which sold at auction in March 2020 for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 22,584.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion British. Cool. durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Series Of Five Outtakes From The Beatles' 'Abbey Road' Sessions, 1969, printed later von Iain MacMillan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.562,50 (€ 10.879,19) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Iain MacMillan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Beatles, Abbey Road, 1969 beobachtet, die im März 2020 für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 22.584,10) versteigert wurde.
