In October 2014 Christies in London held the auction European Noble & Private Collections Including Fine Tapestries Part II, which included the work Portrait of Joseph Jean-Baptiste Fleuriau d’Armenonville (1661-1728 ), Conseiller d’Etat , three-quarter length, wearing official robes and a periwig by Hyacinthe Rigaud. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,960.69), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hyacinthe Rigaud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Pierre-Vincent Bertin (Circa1654 - 1711) in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 409,250.00 (€ 519,956.73).
