Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Hussein Shariffe was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,104.48). Admittedly, works by Hussein Shariffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Songlines: For Bruce Chatwin in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 40,597.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Hussein Shariffe im Juli 2021 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.104,48) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hussein Shariffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Songlines: For Bruce Chatwin im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 40.597,49).
