In February 2013 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included this untitled work by Hughie Lee-Smith. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 15,291.69) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hughie Lee-Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Indecision II in December 2021 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 104,921.36).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Hughie Lee-Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 15.291,69) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hughie Lee-Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Indecision II im Dezember 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 104.921,36).
