Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Christies in London held the auction Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art, which included the work View of Melrose Abbey, Scotland by Hugh William Williams. The price achieved of GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,688.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hugh William Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An extensive view of the Acropolis and Athens, Greece, with the Herodeion Atticon below in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 157,250.00 (€ 180,467.90).
