Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2015 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work An extensive view of Thebes, Greece by Hugh William Williams. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,733.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hugh William Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An extensive view of the Acropolis and Athens, Greece, with the Herodeion Atticon below in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 157,250.00 (€ 180,467.90).

Im Juli 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit An extensive view of Thebes, Greece von Hugh William Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.733,90) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hugh William Williams erzielen.
