Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Square Rigger Off The Coast With A Lighthouse Beyond; And A Merchant Barque Anchored Off A Lighthouse by Hugh Boycott Brown was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 404.38). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hugh Boycott Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Suffolk Windmill; Morning At Pin Mill in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,698.37).

Als die Arbeit A Square Rigger Off The Coast With A Lighthouse Beyond; And A Merchant Barque Anchored Off A Lighthouse von Hugh Boycott Brown im März 2009 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 375,00 (€ 404,38) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hugh Boycott Brown erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Suffolk Windmill; Morning At Pin Mill im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.840,00 (€ 5.698,37).
