Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy by Hu Hanmin was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 30,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 137,500.00 (€ 14,323.84). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hu Hanmin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy Couplet in Lishu sold at auction in April last year with the realized price of HKD 226,800.00 (€ 27,421.77).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy von Hu Hanmin im Mai 2012 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 30.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 137.500,00 (€ 14.323,84) mehr als viermal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Hu Hanmin; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet in Lishu im April letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 226.800,00 (€ 27.421,77).
