The work Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe by Horatio McCulloch was sold in the Master Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. It changed hands for a price of USD 286,000.00 (€ 264,032.50) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe is the most expensive artwork by Horatio McCulloch that we have observed at auctions so far.
