Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2014 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work An Indian man reading the newspaper in the bazaar, Bombay by Horace van Ruith. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,182.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Horace van Ruith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (A Brahmin Household) in March 2017 with an auction result of USD 384,500.00 (€ 359,412.97).
