Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Hongren achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2014. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Views Of Mount Huang sold for USD 665,000.00 (€ 482,688.54) - well above the upper estimate of USD 280,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hongren achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscapes And Calligraphies in April 2021 with an auction result of HKD 128,456,000.00 (€ 13,753,227.60).
