Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures, which included the work Sailing vessels near the harbour entrance by Hobbe Smith. The price achieved of EUR 2,500.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hobbe Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work De Magere Brug over de Amstel in October 2003 with an auction result of EUR 23,900.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sailing vessels near the harbour entrance von Hobbe Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 2.500,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hobbe Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit De Magere Brug over de Amstel im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 23.900,00.
