Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Amsterdam seen towards the south from the IJ by Hobbe Smith was sold in the 19th CenturyEuropean Art auction at Christies in Amsterdam in October 2008. The price achieved of EUR 10,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hobbe Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work De Magere Brug over de Amstel, which sold at auction in October 2003 for EUR 23,900.00.

Die Arbeit Amsterdam seen towards the south from the IJ von Hobbe Smith wurde im Oktober 2008 in der Auktion 19th CenturyEuropean Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 10.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Hobbe Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit De Magere Brug over de Amstel beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für EUR 23.900,00 versteigert wurde.
