Auction result well in line with expectations

The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,009.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hermanus Koekkoek Jnr. - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sailing out on choppy waters, which sold at auction in October 2005 for EUR 25,200.00.
