In October 2005 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART, which included the work Sailing out on choppy waters by Hermanus Koekkoek Jnr.. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 25,200.00 26% above the upper estimate. With this result, Sailing out on choppy waters is even the most expensive work of art by Hermanus Koekkoek Jnr. that we have observed at auctions so far.
