Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Elephants & Tulips by Hermann Dudley Murphy was sold in the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in September 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,190.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hermann Dudley Murphy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gardenia, which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 36,000.00 (€ 26,917.90).
