Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2020 Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Still Life, c.1948 by Herbert Badham. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 6,150.00 (€ 5,147.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert Badham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work South Head, 1935 in November 2020 with an auction result of AUD 147,600.00 (€ 123,535.32).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2020 führte Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Still Life, c.1948 von Herbert Badham zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 6.150,00 (€ 5.147,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Herbert Badham erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit South Head, 1935 im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 147.600,00 (€ 123.535,32).
