Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Henry Curry, facing right in black coat, white waistcoat and tied cravat, powdered hair by Henry Spicer was sold in the Important Gold Boxes, Objects of Vertu and Portrait auction at Christies in London in December 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 537.75 (€ 825.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Spicer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ozias Humphry, R.A. (1742-1810), in profile to the left in claret coloured velvet cloak, white stock, clasping a book close to his chest in his right hand in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 17,625.00 (€ 28,807.37).
(1742-1810), in profile to the left in claret coloured velvet cloak, white stock, clasping a book close to his chest in his right hand im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.625,00 (€ 28.807,37).
