Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christ in the garden of Gethsemane by Henry Ryland was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 12,750.00 (€ 15,116.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Henry Ryland have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The guarded flame in July last year with an auction result of GBP 63,000.00 (€ 75,233.19).
